Serial entrepreneur Johan Attby has more than 15 years of software, corporate development, venture capital and business development experience that he brings to his role of co-founder and CEO at Fishbrain. In addition to managing day-to-day operations of the company, Johan is responsible for Fishbrain’s rapid expansion to multiple markets and millions of users around the globe.
Awarded “Founder of the Year” in Sweden by the Nordic Startup Awards in 2015, Johan has a passion for building game-changing businesses, as well as successfully bringing Swedish technology companies to the U.S. He grew up hunting and fishing, but it wasn’t until nearly a decade into his career of investing in and founding various successful start-ups, that he brought together his passion for analytics and fishing to launch a deep social network for anglers.
Prior to Fishbrain, Johan founded software company Tific, where he grew the company from simply an idea to a highly profitable organization with a rapidly growing international customer base. In 2011 he orchestrated a successful exit once Tific was acquired PlumChoice.
Johan graduated from Chalmers University of Technology with a Master of Science degree in Engineering Physics before entering a Chalmers PhD program, which he eventually left to pursue his passions as an entrepreneur and innovator. Johan serves as an investor, advisor and board member to an extensive network of early stage technology companies, and is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship and start-ups.
Johan joins the scale-up session to discuss what it takes to grow from an idea to a global business and what it takes to create a community that engages with your product, an essential aspect for new media businesses.
