Hannu joins the scale-up panel in our programme to share his insights on how the new players in the market disrupt the media industry and what media corporations need to understand to find a common language to get the best out for both when collaborating with fast growing technology companies.
As a successful digital entrepreneur and executive, Hannu Verkasalo has founded, built and sold several companies in the digital and mobile space, and advised more than 20 different ventures across the US and Europe over the past years. He holds presence in both Europe (UK/Finland) and US (NYC). His previous company Zokem, the first and foremost player in the mobile media measurement, was acquired by Arbitron Inc. in 2011. Hannu continued as a SVP and the head of mobile and Internet at Arbitron (publicly listed in NYC), and built the company’s presence to span across Europe, Asia, Australia, and North/Latin America. Arbitron was later acquired by Nielsen Inc.
Hannu’s ongoing involvement with Radar Capital GmbH, a venture capital company focused on scaling European technology companies to the US market, is all about helping companies create game-changing products and services and to quickly address and launch products in the US market. He has raised venture capital totaling $15M to date. More recently, Hannu has worked with ventures ranging from Bitbar (automated cloud-based mobile app testing) to Ceruus (IoT), and from BetterDoctor (Yelp for doctors) to Clothes Networks (search/discovery engine for online fashion shopping), among others.
